  3. What possible use could a digitiser and a copy of Protracker be

  5. to aid making home videos?

  7. Well, although they're not absolutely necessary, they do enhance your
  8.  
  9. vids somewhat, in fact I use Protracker mods quite often with my
  10.  
  11. videos and they sound alright. (not all are brilliant though!)
  12.  
  13. All you have to do is load a copy of your favourite tracker and have
  14.  
  15. a module loaded and ready to play.
  16.  
  17. Now, this is where things complicate a little, if you have a video
  18.  
  19. mixing deck, then just link your Amiga up to the stereo inputs in which 
  20.  
  21. case the deck will then output the audio through to your destination video
  22.  
  23. recorder (just make sure the mixer is linked to the destination as well).                                                                #7More>>>

  25. @6Users of just the Amiga and two video recorders can link the Amigas

  27. audio to the back of the video recorder where it says audio in.

  29. The audio in socket isn't on all videos, but luckily it is on most.

  31. You may have to buy a set of universal leads and plugs which are

  33. available from stores like Dixons, maybe your local computer store has
  34.  
  35. them, just check. Once you have the correct leads and jacks, it's just
  36.  
  37. a case of plugging it all in and start recording your Amiga

  39. music as soon as you need it. A nice little feature on protracker
  40.  
  41. is the volume slide which will help users without mixing decks to
  42.  
  43. fade their music.

  45. Just slowly raise the volume slider to fade your music in. Drop the
  46.

  51. music in, in which case you won't need the slider on protracker.

  55. New comers to video may find it reassuring to know that when

  57. I first started with video, it took me weeks to get the damn thing

  59. set up, ie looking all over the place for the right leads and the best

  61. genlock. Hopefully A.F has helped things along a bit, as you now
  62.  
  63. know the price of everything, what it all does, where to get leads
  64.  
  65. from and how to use a titler.

  67. Anyway, back to protracker.

  69. Once your module is playing and is being recorded just fade it out

  71. slowly once you've finished, don't just let the music end abruptly.#7More>>

  73. Oh, and I really, really recommend some sort of video mixer for this,

  75. due to the fact that most of them allow you to alter the sound level
  76.  
  77. of both the existing videos audio (the sound already on the tape) and
  78.  
  79. the Amigas audio, therefore allowing you to fade music and fade in
  80.  
  81. peoples speech, or whatever, at the same time.

  83. That's about all the use you're going to get from the Amigas audio.

  85. On to the graphics side.

  87. You will be able to use your digitiser with scala, more advanced
  88.  
  89. users will know that you can insert a picture in to the background

  91. while faffing about with titles, neato. Instead of using crappy
  92.  
  93. pictures from your picture collection why not digitise the cast of
  94.  
  95. your video and then grab a picture of each persons head, paste them#7More>>

  97. @6all onto the same screen using PPaint or Dpaint. Then save your

  99. cast as a picture and import the picture into Scala and then insert the
  100.  
  101. titles next to the casts heads. Good idea, but it will take a bit of time.

  103. Also, remember to save your pictures in 16colours if you're using
  104.  
  105. Scala HT100.

  107. Other uses for your digitiser could be gimmicks such as displaying a
  108.  
  109. picture over the video and then using your genlocks slider control to fade
  110.  
  111. the digitised picture out.

  113. With a little bit of imagination, a little bit of effort and lots of

  115. time you'll get that presentation just right and impress the pants

  117. of viewers. Just don't forget to tell them that the Amiga was at the heart
